Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations during the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Eccles, you must be a minimum of 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, with possible additional fees for drivers under 25. You need to possess a valid full driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and proof of your current address are required, along with payment information and a security deposit. Any extra conditions outlined in the Rental Agreement must also be met.
Booking and Payment Process
- Bookings with Eccles Car Hire are available via our website, by phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your reservation. The total payment and security deposit are usually required upon vehicle collection. All prices are quoted in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle must also be returned with the same amount of fuel as when it was picked up; otherwise, refueling fees will apply. Late returns may incur extra charges, so please inform us promptly if you expect to return the vehicle later than scheduled. You will be held liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental period, in addition to an administrative fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. You can find comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to help minimize your financial liability. It's advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless you opt for additional coverage. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, irrespective of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Vehicle Uses
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. It cannot transport hazardous materials or be sublet to others. Authorized drivers only should operate the vehicle, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used beyond its intended purpose, exceed passenger or weight limits, or be driven outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
Within the limits set by English and Welsh law, Eccles Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the total amount paid for rentals in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death, personal injury due to negligence, or fraud.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by English and Welsh law. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
