Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals come with a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines key terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities related to the rental. In cases of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Eccles Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary by vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving licence relevant to the vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Additionally, valid payment details and a security deposit must be provided, along with any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations can be arranged via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Dartford office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment and a security deposit are generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, please conduct a comprehensive inspection and report any pre-existing damage at that time. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the state of the car. It is important to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level; refueling fees will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns can incur extra charges, so contact us as soon as possible if you expect to be late. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or related charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. You can find comprehensive coverage information and excess amounts in your Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be offered to help minimize your financial liability. It's important to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless you opt for extra coverage. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of any insurance policy.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. Please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement for precise information. Cancellations made late or failure to show up may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Car
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Vehicles must not be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Vehicles should only be used for their intended purposes, and adherence to passenger and weight limits is mandatory. Driving outside designated geographical areas requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Eccles Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is capped at the rental amount paid in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence, or for fraud.
Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are regulated by English and Welsh law. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in English and Welsh courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
